Carol Wilson

Executive Director

Carol Wilson, co-founded EXCEL Alaska, Inc., and has over 22 years of experience in the education field, both as a teacher and program administrator. As Executive Director, she oversees the administrative operations of the organization, writes and manages federal grants and works with all the stakeholders to ensure timelines and objectives are met.

Prior to establishing Alaska EXCEL, Carol spent 15 years as a teacher and program director at Chugach School District (CSD). During her tenure with CSD, she played a pivotal role in transforming a high school transition program, similar to EXCEL, from a small, rural 3-school site school district program to a multidistrict program, increasing the capacity and student outcomes. In addition, she was the Project Director for multiple federal, state, and local grants awarded to CSD.

Carol holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, from the University of Southern Colorado. Additionally, she earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Design from Alaska Pacific University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Alaska, Anchorage. She has both an Alaska Type A Teaching and Type B Administrative/Principal Certificate.
